Crested Butte Music Festival

Crested Butte Music Festival

The 16th annual Crested Butte Music Festival (CBMF) promises to be a festival for all the senses, delivering world-class performances in very intimate and beautiful settings from July 4 – Aug. 12, 2012.

“This is definitely not your typical summer music festival. We run the gamut of offering Have a Beer with Beethoven in a local barn and gypsy jazz concerts at Uley’s Cabin to opera productions featuring talent from around the globe and performances by legends like Marcello Giordani, Samuel Ramey and Junior Mance,” says Festival Director Alexander Scheirle.

The jam-packed schedule of events includes three mini-festivals within a festival: Bluegrass In Paradise, Opera In Paradise and Gypsy Jazz in Paradise. Opera offerings continue to expand as do educational opportunities for rising young professionals in the opera world and youth interested in bluegrass, brass and opera.

One of the most special things about CBMF for performers and audiences are the intimate venues. “You can’t get this close to opera anywhere else. If you wanted to get any closer, you’d have to get up on stage and sing,” says Sarah Meyers, who will stage direct “The Magic Flute” for CBMF and is a guest stage director for The Metropolitan Opera.
